Thai Basil Beef. Thai basil beef (aka pad graw prow). The dish I order almost every time I set foot in a Thai restaurant, and one of my favorite things to cook at home. While we've posted a recipe for Thai Basil Chicken in the past, this beef version has a more intense flavor that comes from the darker, richer sauce used here.
When my husband and I lived in St. Louis, there was a Thai food restaurant that we frequented that was unlike any other; I'm salivating just thinking about it. Stir in garlic and thai basil and sauté. Delicious, adaptable recipe that's great for using up summer's basil overload. You can use any protein here-ground pork, ground turkey, tofu, sliced beef or chicken. Top with grated carrot, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice. Basil—using Thai holy basil (if you're lucky enough to find it) makes this spicy beef stir-fry worthy of the name "phat ka-phrao" which means "holy basil stir-fry".
